YACHT CHARTER IN THE SARONIC ISLANDS

The Saronic Islands are particularly close to the Greece capital of Athens, making them the most accessible of the Greek Islands for a sailing or a motor yacht charter. There are seven islands in the Saronic Gulf, including Aegina, Agistri, Hydra, Methana, Poros, Salamina, and Spetses, although Methana and Salamina are not known as tourist destinations. The other five islands are popular for their natural beauty, sandy beaches, and yacht charters.

Hydra, the Saronic Islands

Aegina – The capital of Aegina is well-liked because of its characteristically Greek structure of the neoclassical buildings along the narrow alleys of the village. One popular destination on this lush island is the fish market in the center of town. Be sure to enjoy a fresh fish dinner and tasty appetizers. Olive and pine trees grow throughout the island and the deep blue sea is stunning.

Agistri – Known as a peaceful destination, Agistri offers tranquil beaches and a deep blue sea with lots of greenery. However, this beautiful island also offers many attractions and services for the tourists who find their way here.

Hydra – Named after the nine-headed monster of Greek mythology, Hydra is a sophisticated island with red-tiled houses and stone-paved alleys. This island was popular in the 60s with many famous artists, and it still possesses a cosmopolitan air.

Poros – Poros is loved for its leafy landscapes and secluded beaches. Since many tourists prefer the lively Hydra, the splendor of the island remains virtually untouched. The capital offers neoclassical and Venetian buildings, typical of the classic Greek style.

Spetses – The small island of Spetses is known for its numerous pine trees, secluded bays that are ideal for yachting, and stunning sandy beaches. The village buildings have wooden balconies and colorful walls along with the traditional narrow stone alleys.

The Saronic Islands are perfect for a short charter because of their proximity to Athens. Even more so, they are ideal for a yacht charter year-round. Even in bad weather, the surrounding water remains undisturbed. This is mostly because the Saronic Gulf is sheltered from the wind. It is a warm, sunny area with very little rain, making it a great holiday destination for those who dislike rough sailing.

Yachts

The high season also provides more variety in both price and selection of boating vehicles for a Saronic Islands yacht charter. Traditionally, people choose a motor yacht with all of the luxurious amenities. Some prefer gulets or catamarans, while the a sailboat is becoming more popular because it is environmentally friendly.

Endless Summer - a very popular yacht in Greece

Yacht charters in Greece are available not only in the Saronic Islands, but in other Greece locations, such as the Ionian Islands, the Cyclades Islands, the Dodencanese Islands, and the Sporades Islands.
